Middlesboro ARH Hospital

Middlesboro ARH is a 96-bed, acute-care facility, which enjoys a reputation of excellence as a patient-oriented and community-centered hospital. Established in 1956, the facility is governed by Appalachian Regional Healthcare, Inc., a not-for-profit healthcare system with hospitals, clinics, and home health services in Kentucky and West Virginia.

Physician specialties currently include Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Endocrinology, Ophthalmology, Pathology, Pediatrics, Urology, Emergency Medicine, Orthopedics, Otolaryngology (ENT), Obstetrics, Gynecology, General Surgery, Anesthesiology, Radiology and General or Family Practice. Hematology/Oncology, Radiation Oncology and Gastroenterology consultation services are also available.

Middlesboro ARH offers all primary and a host of secondary health services which include, but are not limited to the following: a 24-hour physician-staffed Emergency Department, Express ER Services, CT-Scan, ultrasound, MRI, nuclear medicine, mammography, respiratory therapy, cardiac stress testing, echo cardiology, Holter monitoring, 24-hour laboratory services, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, lymphedema services, social services, same-day surgery, laparoscopic surgery, ophthalmic surgery, obstetrics/birthing room, intensive/coronary care unit, and sleep diagnostic testing.

Pineville Community Hospital

Pineville Community Hospital has 150 beds, 12 bassinets and operates a Home Health Agency. In addition to the nursing areas, the physical plant includes an administrative suite, business offices, purchasing department, kitchen and dining area, surgery suite, respiratory therapy, in and outpatient pharmacies, including EKG and EEG, physical therapy, radiology, patient representative, engineering plant, medical records unit, quality improvement and social services offices, delivery rooms, emergency room suite, laboratories, clinical and anatomical pathology, conference rooms, in-service library, patient library (volunteer staffed), several waiting areas and a gift shop.

At present, the active staff is comprised of more than 15 physicians. An additional 48 physicians comprise the courtesy and consulting staffs. The hospital is also staffed by more than 350 employees serving in nursing, technical, administrative and support capacities. Expertise is available in the following areas: anesthesiology, cardiology, colorectal surgery, dermatology, emergency medicine, family practice, gastroenterology, general surgery, gynecology, internal medicine, obstetrics, ophthalmology, orthopedic surgery, pathology, pediatrics, radiology and urology.
